The development of intellectual potential is an important problem for Russian society. In modern society there are a lot of innovations, new technologies and techniques that need to be spread among young people. In this regard, the issues of search activity work prevail. This article presents the experience of the organization of research activity of schoolchildren, students and young scientists in the Research and Education Center of Economics and Information Technology of the Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISEDT RAS). The authors present the urgency of the problem and describe the main directions of work in the Research and Education Center of ISEDT RAS to build research capacity of students, its purpose and specificity. The importance of this activity is revealed. The content of the comprehensive approach to the implementation of the training and education system of young researchers, methods and techniques are presented. It is shown that a teacher who owns the ways of organizing scientific work with students plays an important role in the development of intellectual potential of the region. The article considers the main forms of cooperation of the Research and Education Center ISEDT RAS with other organizations. The conclusion is that the development of intellectual potential of the region depends not only on achievements of scientists, but also an ability to organize research and design activities of youth
