The activity of any organization is inextricably linked with a great amount of work. It is impossible to plan and monitor their implementation without modern information technologies. The creation of information-analytical systems that improve the efficiency of the organization management is an urgent task. The article points out features and benefits of the project management systems implementation. It considers key mechanisms of commercial corporate systems spread and criteria for their evaluation. It compares most popular project management systems according to the presented indicators and cost of the use (ADVANTA, Megaplan, MS Project, Asana, Bitrix24, TeamLab, etc.). Based on the presented analysis the authors conclude that it is necessary to develop in-house software solutions. The article highlights advantages of building software systems in the form of web applications and client-server architecture and justifies the choice of means of the project management system implementation. In conclusion the authors determine the benefits of web-oriented architecture, PHP language and Yii framework as a basis and means of the project management system development. This will create a modern multifunctional application, provide the opportunity for its further upgrade and integration with other software solutions used in the process of managerial decision-making in the organization and improve the effectiveness of management activities
